Job summary

The Department of Transportation in Pierre, SD is seeking a Material Laboratory Technician (Pavement Smoothness Technician). You will collect inertial profiler pavement data for new pavements and prepare reports, while also performing highway construction materials testing in the Central Materials Laboratory.

The role involves field and lab work on active projects across South Dakota. Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in civil engineering technology and experience in highway construction

Qualifications

Associate degree in civil engineering technology or related field.
Experience in highway construction inspection and materials testing.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Collect inertial profiler pavement smoothness data for newly constructed pavements and prepare smoothness reports.
Perform highway construction materials testing in the Central Materials Laboratory as assigned.
Work on active highway construction projects and in a highway materials laboratory; travel within SD.
Laboratory work may involve exposure to dust, chemicals, noise, and heated materials.
