POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pavement Marking Technician is responsible for driving and operating pavement marking equipment for road construction and maintenance projects. This role ensures the precise application of road markings, adherence to safety protocols, and proper maintenance of equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in various weather conditions, follow detailed instructions, and collaborate effectively with team members and contractors to ensure project success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Operate equipment to place paint, thermoplastic, and other pavement markings.
2. Prepare work areas, transport materials, and operate company trucks for job site logistics.
3. Implement striping plans and perform layout, including intersection markings.
4. Lift, carry, load, and unload construction items, including pavement marking supplies and signs.
5. Use hand grinders to remove old lines and pavement markings; install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
6. Cut, lay out, and install heat tape; apply and remove temporary and permanent reflective tape.
7. Install Cold Applied Plastic and Preformed Thermoplastic to job specifications.
8. Maintain and operate all hand and pavement marking equipment, including milling and grinding equipment.
9. Perform shop work, including equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring operational efficiency.
10. Communicate with contractors, field inspectors, and supervise field personnel.
11. Complete daily required paperwork, including logging yield conversions and verifying specifications.
12. Follow all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
13. Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
14. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred not required; Must obtain CDL Class B within 60 days of employment.
2. Must be able to pass a background check.
3. Must successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
4. Wear proper safety equipment (work boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest).
5. Must successfully complete the ATSSA TCT intermediate training course.
6. Must successfully complete the ATSSA Pavement Marking intermediate training course (if mandated by the state).
7. Must be able to read plans, ensure traffic control plans are implemented and maintained, comply with road signs, complete paperwork, and understand federal and state motor carrier safety regulations. Knowledge of state and local roadways and experience operating delivery vehicles of varying sizes.
8. Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
9. Knowledge of safety procedures for securing and transporting cargo.
