Job summary

Commercial Sewing, Inc. in Torrington, CT is seeking a creative Pattern Maker to develop production-ready patterns for marine and powersports cover systems from concept to final product.

You will translate concepts into accurate patterns, build prototypes, test fit, and collaborate with engineering, product development, sewing, cutting, and production teams to improve manufacturability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience creating patterns for sewn products, apparel, upholstery, marine products, or similar applications.
• Strong understanding of textile materials, fabric behavior, fit, and construction methods.
• Excellent problem-solving and spatial visualization skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a product development environment.
• CAD and digital patternmaking experience is a plus.
• Experience with marine, automotive, upholstery, performance, or industrial fabrics is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop production-ready patterns for marine and powersports cover systems.
• Translate product concepts into accurate, manufacturable patterns.
• Build and evaluate prototypes for fit, function, performance, and appearance.
• Analyze complex three-dimensional shapes and develop precision-fit solutions.
• Work with a variety of technical fabrics, materials, and components.
• Collaborate with engineering, product development, sewing, cutting, and production teams.
• Conduct fit evaluations and implement pattern adjustments as needed.
• Support new product development projects and model-year updates.
• Improve product performance, manufacturability, and overall customer experience.
• Maintain and revise pattern libraries and technical documentation.
