Job summary

Steinway & Sons is seeking a Pattern Maker to join the Pattern Shop in Astoria, Queens. The role supports fabrication of jigs, fixtures and other woodworking items, updating and maintaining patterns, and providing prototype and custom-order support for art-case pianos.

Ideal candidates have extensive woodworking experience, can read blueprints, and are skilled with a range of hand and power tools. Collaborative work in a factory setting with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of woodworking experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings to fabricate indicated parts.
• Good knowledge of mathematics and geometry.
• Ability to safely use a wide range of manual and power woodworking tools.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patterns, fixtures and gauges for production.
• Update, redesign and maintain patterns and related tools.
• Fabricate patterns, fixtures, and gauges for custom orders and art cases.
• Assist in creating prototypes and case modifications for designs.
