Job summary

Bradington-Young, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, seeks a Production Development – Pattern and Spec Maker to join our domestic manufacturing team. The role focuses on transforming design concepts into production-ready patterns with hands-on upholstery, trim, and pattern creation.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality, marker-ready upholstery products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in inside upholstery, trim work, and pattern

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform inside upholstery, trim work, and pattern making; proficiency in all three is a strong plus.
  • Prior upholstery pattern making experience preferred in the furniture industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of upholstery construction and materials.
  • Proficiency with hand tools used in pattern creation; CAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and bring them to life.
  • High attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Collaborative and effective communicator.
  • Ability to lift materials and patterns up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, bend and work with tools for extended periods in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with production teams to optimize upholstery and trim processes; provide hands-on technical support and resolve construction challenges.
  • Participate in creating new prototypes, evaluating fit, comfort and visual appeal.
  • Offer suggestions and make adjustments based on testing results and feedback.
  • Identify ways to improve upholstery, trim and development workflows for greater efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and evolving tools and techniques.
  • Develop accurate patterns for new upholstery designs by hand.
  • Create detailed product specifications including dimensions, materials and construction details.
  • Maintain organized documentation of all patterns and specifications.
  • Modify patterns and specs to enhance quality and production efficiency.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail orientated Production Development – Pattern and Spec Maker to join our domestic manufacturing team. This role plays a critical part in transforming design concepts into production ready patterns and specifications that ensure quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with inside upholstery, trim work, and pattern creation, proficiency in all three is highly preferred and will be a key asset in the role. The candidate will also collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop innovative, high quality, and marker ready upholstery products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with design teams to interpret design concepts and bring them to life.
  • Partner with production teams to ensure upholstery and trim processes are optimized for manufacturing.Provie hands-on technical support and resolve construction challenges as needed.
  • Participate in the creation of new prototypes, evaluating fit, comfort, and visual appeal.

Candidates that would be a great fit:

  • Prior experience in upholstery pattern making or a similar role in the furniture industry, preferred.
