Job summary

Orange Beach Police Department is seeking a dedicated patrol officer to safeguard the City of Orange Beach. The role involves patrolling designated areas on foot or by vehicle, responding to a wide range of incidents, and conducting preliminary investigations with thorough reporting.

Responsibilities include traffic control, escort duties, serving warrants and subpoenas, testifying in court, and assisting other agencies. Requires readiness, teamwork, and knowledge of laws and first aid.

Qualifications

• Verbal skills to communicate factual information to subordinates, co-workers, and the public.
• De-escalation skills are required.
• Writing skills to clearly complete routine forms and reports.
• Reading skills to read professional publications, court records, etc.
• Driving skills to operate a vehicle safely.
• Knowledge of City, its buildings and road system.
• Knowledge of City/state law and court procedures.
• Knowledge of first aid.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated sections of the City on foot or in automobile; respond to complaints.
• Conduct preliminary investigations of felonies and misdemeanors; interview victims and witnesses; collect evidence.
• Complete incident reports, accident reports, and logs; assist other agencies on calls.
• Direct traffic at intersections and events; provide escorts and assist motorists.
• Serve subpoenas and warrants; testify in court; transport prisoners as needed.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles; ensure safety and readiness.
