Job summary

City of Appleton is seeking an entry-level sworn police officer to protect life and property through law enforcement, patrol duties, responding to incidents, investigations, and emergency medical service as needed. Under general supervision, officers will perform first responder duties and complete necessary paperwork.

Responsibilities include reporting, arrest processing, testimony, evidence handling, and coordinating with victims and witnesses while meeting Wisconsin certification requirements

Qualifications

• Must meet Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification requirements.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws.
• Ability to communicate clearly and write reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and respond to incidents.
• Complete offense and incident reports and related documents.
• Investigate activities, gather evidence, and secure scenes.
• Engage with victims, suspects, and witnesses to obtain information.
• Provide basic emergency medical assistance and first responder duties as needed.
• Operate police equipment and vehicles proficiently and safely.
