Job summary

National Police seeks a dedicated officer to enforce federal, state, and local laws and protect life and property. The role may involve patrol, investigations, traffic control, School Resource Officer duties, training, and accreditation-related tasks.

You will perform traffic enforcement, respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and provide reports; opportunity to work with schools and coordinate training within the department.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (or 60 semester hours) from an accredited college or university or three years of consecutive law enforcement experience or four years’ active military service or any combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Ability to meet current North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements

Responsibilities

• Patrols the city to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations; monitors areas for signs of crime.
• Enforces traffic and parking laws; inspects roadways and reports hazardous conditions.
• Performs security checks of businesses and residences; reports unsecured property.
• Responds to calls for service including disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, and missing persons.
• Conducts investigations, interviews victims and witnesses, gathers information and evidence, and secures scenes.
• Apprehends and processes offenders; subpoenas witnesses.
• Provides assistance to officers and emergency providers; supports school crossings when needed.
• Testifies in judicial proceedings and completes required reports and forms.
