Job summary

The City of Fairhope Police Department seeks an entry-level officer to perform patrols, enforce laws, and support public safety. Under supervision, you will conduct patrols, process court papers, and provide security for court proceedings and special events.

You will prepare reports, maintain equipment and uniforms, assist with traffic control, issue citations, and respond to emergencies. This role requires sound judgement under stress and a commitment to public service in Fairhope, Alabama.

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least twenty (20) years old and a U.S. citizen.
• Possess the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification.
• Possess a current and valid driver's license; must be insurable.
• Possess firearm, NCIC, Draeger, Taser, First Aid and CPR certifications and ability to maintain certifications.
• Ability to wear appropriate uniforms and safety equipment.
• Ability to work nonstandard hours, rotating shifts, and emergency call-backs.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen.
