Job summary

The City of Selma is seeking an Entry Level Police Officer. This role performs law enforcement and crime prevention duties, patrols streets, responds to emergencies, and enforces city, state, and local laws. Candidates must submit a complete application including education, work experience, certificates, and skills.

As an entry level officer, you will participate in patrols, traffic control, investigations, and community relations activities while developing through the P.O.S.T. program.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent and completion of P.O.S.T. training for police officers.
• Possession of valid California Class C driver license.
• CPR and First Aid certification and P.O.S.T. Basic Academy completion.

Responsibilities

• Protects life and property; patrols assigned areas of the city and responds to calls.
• Investigates disturbances, burglaries, traffic incidents, and other emergencies; prepares reports.
• Arrests suspects, directs traffic, and testifies in court when required.
