The officer will patrol, respond to emergencies, conduct preliminary investigations, and enforce laws to protect life and property within assigned divisions. The role requires completion of basic police officer training and a Georgia driver’s license, with opportunities in community policing and school safety programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must complete basic police officer program.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
• Ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, and/or summarize data.
• Ability to apply persuasion and/or influence over others.
• Ability to operate equipment requiring complex adjustments.
• Ability to utilize reference data and information.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Enforces codes, ordinances, laws and regulations to protect life and property.
• Patrols areas to deter crime and ensure security; inspects premises and responds to alarms.
• Responds to dispatch calls including emergencies and routine incidents.
• Seeks out suspects, issues citations, makes arrests and processes criminals as required.
• Conducts preliminary investigations and preserves crime scenes; collects evidence.
• Participates in undercover or community policing activities as assigned.
• Provides emergency response and safety support during incidents and disasters.
• Enforces traffic laws and conducts standard field sobriety and DUI enforcement.
