Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (HiSet/GED).
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college or university; may substitute for the minimum education.
• Certification by a law enforcement academy may not substitute for any course credit.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area in various vehicles or on foot to prevent, discover, and deter crime; enforce laws and regulations; monitor traffic and road conditions.
• Provides general assistance to persons in need and may interview and apprehend suspects; conducts investigations and writes reports.
• Books, fingerprints, and photographs prisoners; transports individuals to and from detention facility.
• Provides information to the public and engages in community policing and outreach; participates in ongoing training.
• Other duties may include specialty assignments and detective work as assigned.
