Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Public Safety Officer at CHA Cambridge Hospital to join a 24/7 security team ensuring safety for patients, visitors and staff.

You will perform patrols, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, and collaborate with hospital departments. Requires an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or two years of police/security experience, plus a MA driver’s license and CPR/First Responder certification. Union Local 122 represented role.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or two years of prior law enforcement experience.
  • One year prior experience in security, loss prevention and/or criminal justice.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • CPR Certificate/First Responder Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general law enforcement duties to protect persons and property.
  • Investigate crimes and violations of Massachusetts laws and ordinances.
  • Make arrests and file appropriate complaints for the courts.
  • Provide safety escorts for patients and staff as needed.
  • Observe and detain patients in crisis who need special services.
  • Investigate suspicious individuals or situations.
  • Provide safety and security for patients, visitors and staff.

Performs general law enforcement duties in the protection of persons and property; enforcing applicable policies, rules and regulations of Cambridge Health Alliance and applicable federal, state and local laws, to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents.

Investigates crimes and other violations of Massachusetts laws and ordinances.

Makes arrests and sets up appropriate complaints for the courts for those in violation of the law.

Assists in the escorting of deceased patients.

Observe and detain patients who are in crisis and deemed in need of special services.

Investigates individuals or situations that appear to be of a suspicious nature.

Provides safety escorts as needed

Provides for the safety and security of all patients, visitors and staff.

Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or two years of prior law enforcement experience, or two years of militaryexperience with an honorable discharge.

One year prior experience in security, loss prevention and/or criminal justice.

Basic knowledge of security and law enforcement practices.

Able to produce concise, accurate and well written reports.

Able to work independently or as part of a team

Possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts drivers license.

CPR Certificate/First Responder Certificate

All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
