Job summary

The City of Lemoore is seeking a Police Officer to join the City’s Police Department. You will patrol assigned areas to preserve law and order, enforce traffic laws, respond to calls for service, and conduct investigations with a focus on protecting life and property.

You will collect and preserve evidence, interview victims and witnesses, and work with other agencies as needed. The role includes reporting, court testimony, and public safety outreach.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned city area to preserve law and order, enforce traffic laws, and issue warnings and citations.
• Respond to calls protecting life and property and handle incidents including crimes, accidents, disturbances.
• Conduct investigations at scenes; collect, preserve and book evidence; interview victims and witnesses; interrogate suspects.
• Search suspects, vehicles, and locations for evidence, contraband, and missing persons.
• Serve search and arrest warrants; make arrests for crimes and control and mitigate people under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• Perform booking procedures for new prisoners; transport prisoners to county jail as requested by court order.
• Process and store evidence and property; maintain records and enter data into computer.
• Serve as liaison and public relations officer; develop reliable informants and provide intelligence information.
• Contact and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies; mutual aid for disturbances, apprehension, or other requests.
• Prepare reports on activities, operations, arrests, and incidents; prepare investigative case information.
• Testify in juvenile and civil courts and DMV hearings; prepare and process court reports.
• Respond to questions from the public; explain local/state laws, procedures, and department activities; resolve complaints.
• Direct and control traffic, crowds, bicyclists, skateboarders and parade congestion during events or emergencies.
• Perform related duties as required.
