Job summary

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in Richmond, TX is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to join our patrol and support divisions. You will conduct routine patrols, respond to calls, issue citations, assist in investigations, and participate in emergency management activities as needed.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Texas Driver’s License, and current Basic (or higher) TCOLE certification (or admission to a Basic Police Academy with eligibility to take the licensing

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required.
Current Basic (or higher) TCOLE Certification; or enrolled in Basic Police Academy and eligible to take the TCOLE Licensing Exam within 45 days.
Preferred: 1 year experience in a law enforcement agency performing peace officer, telecommunication, or correctional officer duties; or 2 years military service with honorable discharge; or 30 college credits with GPA ≥ 2.0.

Responsibilities

Conducts search and rescue operations.
Performs routine police patrol as a deterrent to crime.
Issues citations and/or warnings to violators; arrests violators; testifies in court as needed.
Maintains reports as required.
Maintains weapons and equipment assigned.
Conducts initial crime scene investigations.
Answers citizen calls for police assistance.
Maintains weapon proficiency.
Participates in emergency management activities during local disasters as directed.
