Job summary

The Davison County Sheriff’s Office in Mitchell, SD is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff. The starting wage for uncertified candidates is $24.41–$26.25 per hour, with higher wages possible for certified officers.

Evenings, weekends, and holidays, along with on-call duties, are required. Primary duties include patrol work, enforcing laws, serving civil processes, investigating crimes, collecting and submitting evidence, and testifying in court.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required; college or vocational education in law enforcement is preferred.
• Be either a currently certified SD law enforcement officer or eligible for certification.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must reside in or relocate to Davison County.
• Resume, South Dakota Law Enforcement Application, and Release of Information must be submitted.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols to detect and prevent crimes.
• Enforce traffic and criminal laws in Davison County.
• Provide service of civil processes and warrants.
• Investigate crimes, collect evidence, and submit for testing.
