Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus specialized training.
• 1–2 years of related law enforcement experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship.
• Valid South Dakota driver’s license and SD Peace Officer certification.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the county to deter crime and traffic violations; provide assistance as needed.
• Enforces traffic laws via citations and warnings; inspects roadways for hazards.
• Conducts investigations; interviews victims, suspects and witnesses; secures crime scenes.
