Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Rio Rancho, NM, is seeking a dedicated Patient Visit Specialist to support visit closure activities and coordinate patient care at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. You will guide patients through next steps, optimize schedules, and arrange procedures while verifying authorizations and referrals.

The role requires advanced scheduling skills, experience with EHR (EPIC), and strong customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in medical office, hospital, or clinic with patients and providers preferred.
  • Prior authorization/certification/referral process proficiency preferred.
  • Must pass Epic competency for Registration after Epic Clerical Training.
  • Medical terminology training or training within six months of hire.
  • Annual competency exam for all areas of responsibility.
  • Attend staff meetings per department expectations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent customer service with professionalism and empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Review and follow orders entered into the EHR by the clinician.
  • Schedule return visits, lab, radiology, STAT & ASAP appointments and advanced imaging.
  • Obtain Prior Authorization/Referral per payor protocols.
  • Validate patient MyChart access; print AVS with HIPAA privacy checks.
  • Collect backend patient balances such as high deductible.
  • Communicate with ordering clinician when restrictions hinder scheduling as ordered.
  • Make appointment reminder calls and reschedule as needed.
  • Instruct patients on the Release of Information process and ensure ROI form submission.
  • Support Patient Relations and maintain a clean, organized check-out and waiting area.
  • Perform other duties as required.
