Responsibilities:

• Transport patients and equipment between areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, including those with oxygen tanks, IV pumps, and special equipment.
• Assist in transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
• Transport patients during discharge, opening doors as needed.
• Ensure oxygen tanks are properly filled before transport.
• Assist and communicate effectively with patients and visitors within the hospital environment.
• Notify nursing staff and clinicians of patient arrivals and departures.
• Verify patient identification and safety precautions, including comparing pager information with wristbands and medical charts.
• Disinfect and maintain transportation equipment, perform safety checks, and document findings.
• Report malfunctioning equipment for repair or replacement.
• Transport equipment and linen carts to designated areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.

Work Requirements:

• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and operate under stress.
• Three months of on-the-job training post-selection to learn hospital procedures and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:

• Exposure to communicable diseases.
• Ability to exert force up to 100 lbs occasionally and 25-50 lbs frequently.
• Physical demands exceed those of medium work classification.

Protective Equipment:
