Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a PRN transport support staff for night shifts. You will assist with patient care needs, transport patients safely, and maintain cleanliness in clinical areas.

The role requires a high school diploma and eligible BLS/Heartsaver certification within specified timelines. This position emphasizes reliable, customer-focused service, patient safety, and teamwork within a leading pediatric hospital network.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment, or Heartsaver certification within 1 year.
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to transport patients and support department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to and from other departments to the assigned department in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge regarding infection control, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics.
  • Maintains room/bed turnover time by transporting patients to rooms in a time-effective manner.
  • Maintains inventory for assigned department by stocking exam rooms or areas.
  • Supports and participates in continuous assessment and improvement of quality of care.
  • Carries a pager or cell phone and responds to calls promptly.
  • Maintains wagon and wheelchair inventory when not transporting.
  • Documents patient contacts on transport log (if required).
  • Serves as a service excellence role model for Children's staff.

Job Description Provides support to patients, staff, physicians, and administration. Assists with patient care needs, maintains a clean and safe environment, performs patient transport and courier functions. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Computer skills, including internet and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment, or upon start of clinical shift if working in the Emergency Department (ED) or Heartsaver certification from the American Heart Association within 1 year of employment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision
  • In clinical areas, must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

  • Maintains wagon and wheelchair inventory for assigned area when not transporting.
  • Documents each patient contact in a timely manner on transport log (if required in area).
  • Serves as a service excellence role model for other Children's Healthcare of Atlanta staff.
