Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Part-time Patient Transporter for night shifts. You will provide safe transport of patients and equipment, coordinate with hospital departments, and assist in training new hires.

Interaction with patients is essential to ensure needs are met and PHI is safeguarded. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for prior patient care experience and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School GED is required.
• Less than 1 year of basic patient care experience preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient transport of patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist in training new hires and coordinate with departments.
• Communicate transport needs to other departments.
• Interact with patients and customers to meet their needs.
• Use Tele-Tracking system for data entry and dispatch.
• Apply proper body mechanics when lifting or moving patients.
• Adhere to PHI and UH policies and procedures.

What You Will Do

• Provides safe efficient transport of patients, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies.
• Performs transport duties as needed and assist in training new hires.
• Communicates with other departments to assess their transport needs.
• Required to interact with patients and customers to ensure patient/Customers’ needs are met.
• Must be oriented to physical layout of the hospital and locations of patient testing areas.
• Performs data entry and receives dispatch information via Tele-Tracking System.
• Must use proper body mechanics for lifting and/or moving patients.
• Understands and uses the Patient Identification and Alert Process.
• Must pass fit testing for N95 mask.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
