Job Description

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Patient Transporter at Overlook Medical Center. Required hours vary, including every other weekend.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Ascertain patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
  2. Guide or escort incoming patients from the admitting office or reception desk to the designated area.
  3. Carry patient's luggage.
  4. Assist patients in walking to prevent falls or transport non-ambulatory patients using a wheelchair.
  5. Transport patients, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair within the facility during their stay.
  6. Deliver messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Must be able to read, write, and speak English to ensure a safe environment for patients.
  3. Ability to work well under time constraints.
  4. Exposure to extreme cold and heat; standing for long periods; bending; lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.

Relevant Experience:

  1. CPR certification preferred.
