Per-diem position for evening/overnight shifts.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Responsible for documenting patient trips via the Hospital Throughput computer program.
2. Transporting patients to and from care areas and assisting patients to/from their vehicle.
3. Communicating with patients regarding their pending departure.
4. Transporting/moving patients to and from care areas, including assisting with beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
5. Transporting equipment under the responsibility of the Transport Department.
6. Using mobile devices to access the Hospital Throughput Computer Program.
7. Assisting patients with dressing/undressing as needed.
8. Obtaining a “Ticket to Ride” from the nurse upon patient arrival.
9. Getting the nurse's signature on the “Ticket to Ride” before departing the patient's floor.
10. Communicating with the patient’s RN before departure and upon return.
11. Safely parking beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs, ensuring brakes are engaged and beds are lowered.
12. Informing patients about their arrival in a department.
13. Communicating with receiving departments and handing off the signed “Ticket to Ride”.
14. Ensuring patient safety before leaving with the equipment; waiting if department is not ready.
15. Maintaining cleanliness of patient equipment after each trip.
16. Reporting equipment issues to the manager and creating service requests as needed.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required

On-the-job training provided. Basic computer skills required. Previous customer service experience preferred. Healthcare environment experience is a plus.

Education Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Registration/Certification

• American Heart Association CPR/BLS certification

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This role involves frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking, and lifting over 100 lbs. Occasional climbing stairs and lifting in excess of 50-100 lbs is required. Constant use of hearing, sight, speech, smell, and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Continuous concentration and problem-solving are essential.
