Job Summary

Responsible for transporting patients to and from various units/departments within the hospital. Responsible for assuring quality care while enroute.

Essential Functions

• All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Receives and documents patient transportation assignments. Sets a goal to transport three patients per hour. Fills out all appropriate documentation, including admitting log, sign-in book, nursing station log, and trip tickets. Performs telephone activities satisfactorily.
• Transports patients via wheelchairs, stretcher, bed, mobilizer, wagon, or accompanying via ambulation; with attached special apparatus including intravenous solutions, drainage systems, chest tubes, and oxygen.
• Attends in-service education and scheduled departmental staff meetings.
• Reports accidents, unusual occurrences, and complaints to the appropriate individual.
• Assists in maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Conforms to all requirements of policy, procedure, and rules of behavior. Represents department, unit, and system in an acceptable professional manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a non-management job that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent OR post high school diploma / highest degree earned.
• No experience required.
