Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to and from Imaging Services and other hospital departments using wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Assist patients with transfers, positioning, and movement while maintaining dignity, comfort, and safety.
  • Assist radiologic technologists and physicians with patient positioning, turning, and other non-clinical tasks during imaging procedures as directed.
  • Verify patient identification before assisting with examinations or procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hospital policies, including patient safety and privacy requirements.
  • Maintain and clean imaging equipment and department areas.

The Patient Transporter also assists with patient positioning and basic procedural support under the direction of qualified imaging staff, maintains department equipment and supplies, and helps ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, safety-focused, and comfortable interacting with patients of varying ages and abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely transport patients to and from Imaging Services and other hospital departments using wheelchairs and stretchers.Assist patients with transfers, positioning, and movement while maintaining dignity, comfort, and safety.Assist radiologic technologists and physicians with patient positioning, turning, and other non-clinical tasks during imaging procedures as directed.Verify patient identification before assisting with examinations or procedures.Demonstrate knowledge of hospital policies, including patient safety and restraint procedures.Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, technologists, nurses, and other hospital team members.Communicate information accurately and promptly to Imaging Services staff.Demonstrate working knowledge of medical terminology and hospital department functions.Assist with maintaining and cleaning imaging equipment and department areas.Monitor and maintain linen supplies and linen hampers.Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or other issues promptly.Follow North Arkansas Regional Medical Center HIPAA privacy and security policies and maintain patient confidentiality.Recognize and report concerns related to privacy, compliance, fraud, abuse, and ethical conduct.Complete assigned work efficiently and within established timeframes.Use hospital resources appropriately and help minimize waste.Work collaboratively with team members and assist others when assigned responsibilities are complete.Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for new employees and team members.Successfully complete required annual education, orientation, and competency requirements.Maintain professional conduct and represent NARMC positively in interactions with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.Perform other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsRequiredEducationHigh school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.CertificationsCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English.Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.Basic understanding of medical terminology.Ability to safely transport and assist patients using wheelchairs and stretchers.Ability to follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and patient privacy requirements.Strong time-management and organizational skills.Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to assist others.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.Professional and compassionate approach to patient and family interactions.PreferredPrevious healthcare, hospital, patient transport, imaging, or patient care experience.Experience working in a medical, clerical, receptionist, or customer service environment.Familiarity with hospital workflows and healthcare terminology.Previous experience assisting patients with transfers or mobility needs.Basic computer skills and experience working with electronic medical record systems.
