We are hiring immediately for a full time PATIENT TRANSPORTER LEAD position.

Location: Children's Hospital Colorado - Anschutz Campus - 13123 East 16th Avenue, Aurora, CO 80045. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Full time schedule. 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Days may vary, including rotating weekends. More details upon interview.

Requirement: AHA/BLS Certification preferred upon hire & required within 45 days post hire. Hospital experience is preferred.

Pay Range: $17.00 per hour to $18.50 per hour.

Job Summary: Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Directs daily work of other patient transporters and reports inadequate performance to Supervisor.
  2. Trains new and existing employees; updates personnel files. Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor.
  3. Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of work load.
  4. Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age-groups.
  5. Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment.
  6. Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
  7. Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transports patients in severe pain.
  8. Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
  9. Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs.
  10. Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO.
  11. Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients' rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPAA policies and procedures.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
