Job summary

Sentara Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Patient Transporter to support the night shift in the Intensive Care Unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. This full-time role runs 11pm–7am, five nights per week, and emphasizes safe patient movement and clear communication with the care team.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma and a current BLS certification, with patient care experience preferred. This position is based in the ICU and contributes to safe, efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

Job description

Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Transporter to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, located in Virginia Beach, in the Intensive Care Unit.

Hours/Shift:

Full-time, night shift, 11pm to 7am, five nights per week.

Department/Position Overview:

This position will be for assisting the night shift staff in transporting patients to and from testing and assisting with transfers within the units. This position will be based in the Intensive Care Unit.

Safely escorts and transports patients within all areas of the hospital using safe body mechanics. Strictly adheres to all safety rules and initiatives of Sentara. Communicates clearly with all staff, visitors, and patients. Ensures adequate communication of information between central transport and other departments.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• American Health Associate BLS Certification required

Experience

• Patient care experience preferred.
