Job description

Schedule: 40 hours/week. Monday-Friday, 3pm - 11:30 pm. Rotating holidays.

The transporter is responsible for transporting patients, specimens, equipment, supplies, and linen throughout the hospital as needed.

1. Collect biohazard waste, sharps containers, and soiled linen throughout the hospital.
2. Receive transport assignments from the coordinator, which may include Patient Transport, Lab Transport, Linen Delivery, Supply Transport, Morgue Transport, Biohazard pickup, and container replacement.
3. Complete each assignment promptly, notify dispatch upon completion, and receive the next assignment.
4. Perform quarterly equipment cleaning.
5. Attend monthly meetings.
6. Perform other duties and tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to interact courteously with patients and staff.
• Ability to follow instructions, whether printed or verbal.
• Must be able to stand for most of the shift and assist with transferring patients from beds to stretchers and wheelchairs.
