Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Patient Transporter for the evening shift. You will transport patients and equipment across the facility, assist with transfers, and support staff with daily operations.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and CPR (HeartSaver) by orientation end. Prior health care experience and good communication are preferred. Mount Carmel offers strong benefits and daily Pay options.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills to greet patients and coordinate with staff.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients and assist with wheelchair or stretcher transport.
• Ability to stand, walk, push and pull for extended periods in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, specimens and equipment between units as requested.
• Assist patients entering/exiting vehicles or beds, including transfers from wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Deliver equipment and specimens and aid with department needs and morgue transfers.
• Greet visitors and provide directions and information as needed.

1:30 PM - 10:00 PM (Five-5-Hour Shifts a Week)

Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Position Purpose:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Patient Transporter transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.

What you will do:

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.

• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.

• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.

• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Or attending High School

• Licensure / Certification: CPR "HeartSaver" Required by the end of orientation.

• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.

• Effective Communication Skills

• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.
