Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to move patients safely throughout the hospital on day shift. You will support patient flow, assist with transfers, and help ensure comfort and timely arrival to appointments and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous customer service, healthcare, hospitality, or patient-facing experience preferred.
• Ability to push, pull, lift, and maneuver patients and equipment safely.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or obtained within designated timeframe after hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed throughout the facility
• Assist with patient transfers while following established safety protocols.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize assignments appropriately.
• Maintain patient dignity, comfort, and confidentiality at all times.
• Transport medical equipment, specimens, and supplies as needed.
• Follow infection prevention and patient safety guidelines.
• Accurately document transport activities according to department procedures.
