Job summary

St. Joseph's/Candler in Savannah, GA, seeks a patient transport aide to support hospital operations by moving patients and related items safely and efficiently. You will verify patient identities, select appropriate lift equipment, inspect and clean equipment, and communicate with caregivers to ensure timely, accurate transport.

This role requires attention to safety and adherence to department standards. Training is provided on safe handling devices, and lift assists are used for all transports

Qualifications

• Education: GED or High School Diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport jobs are accepted and completed without delay.
• Appropriate equipment obtained prior to arriving to floor.
• Patient identifiers are checked prior to moving patients.
• Equipment is checked before every transport to ensure safety and in working order.
• Unsafe or damaged equipment is reported to team leader and taken out of service.
• Notifies appropriate caregiver of intent to transport patient.
• Maintains trip sheets with complete and accurate information recorded.
• Communicates any pertinent patient information to receiving caregiver.
• Training is completed on all safe handling devices.
• Assesses the patient to determine the most appropriate lift equipment to use on a specific patient.
• Lift assist devices are used on all needed transports.

Education

Graduate Equivalent - GED - Preferred
