Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age if working in Radiology areas (per Intermountain's Employment of Minors Policy)
  • Preferred: At least two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Preferred: At least one (1) year of medical experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Notify nurses and staff when patients arrive, or when transporting to tests.
  • Utilize the Patient Handoff Form and ensure it is completed before transport.
  • Assist with admits and discharges; perform wheelchair/bed rounding.
  • Cross-train for other care site areas as needed; may support Morgue, Kitchen, Supply Chain, EVS, Inventory, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness of transport equipment and storage areas.

Job Description:This position is responsible for transporting patients, focusing on quality, safety, and customer service, while providing care and compassion to patients, families, visitors and staff.Schedule: PRNDay shifts/Shifts varyEssential FunctionsTransports patients in a safe and efficient manner.Uses appropriate and approved transport pathways to ensure confidentiality.Uses appropriate methods of travel and equipment as directed.Uses Safe Patient Handling equipment as indicated.Uses isolation precautions and/or standard precautions appropriately.Places soiled linen in designated areas. Dresses carts and wheelchairs with linen per procedure.Cleans transport equipment before and after every single patient and returns to appropriate storage areas.Knows location of fire extinguishers and fire pull boxes.Notifies patient nurse when taking or returning patient to/from room and notifies test site staff when patient arrives for test.Utilizes written Patient Handoff Form and ensures that handoff form is filled out prior to initiating transport and signs and turns in form immediately after completion of transport.Writes test location on the whiteboard in patient room when leaving with patient.Notifies patient nurse or test site staff of any problems that occurred during transport concerning patient condition or safety.Responds to pager or other communication device in a timely and effective manner.Communicates openly with operators and with other staff members.Informs test sites and operators of any delays and clears transports when completed.Assists with patient Admits & DischargesPerforms wheelchair/bed rounding and restockingMay include cross training for support in other care site areas, such as: Morgue, Kitchen, Supply Chain, EVS, Inventory, etc.SkillsPatient CareCustomer Service OrientedTeamworkComputer LiteracyCommunicationSafe Patient HandlingPersonal HygieneMinimum QualificationsCurrent BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire (with prior approval)Must be at least 18 years of age if working in Radiology areas (per Intermountain's Employment of Minors Policy).Preferred QualificationsAt least two (2) years of customer service experienceAt least one (1) year of medical experienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentPhysical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.Location:Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional HospitalWork City:BillingsWork State:MontanaScheduled Weekly Hours:0The hourly range for this position is listed below.
