Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a patient transport professional to move patients, documents, specimens and equipment across hospital departments. The role requires prompt responses to emergencies and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.

The successful candidate will operate transport equipment, assist with patient movement and support care teams while maintaining a focus on patient experience and timely service delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Some areas may prefer BLS certification.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, records, specimens and equipment to designated areas throughout the organization.
• Respond to emergency patient situations and initiate life-saving techniques such as CPR as needed.
• Move patients using wheelchairs, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to care.
• Maintain patient transport-related equipment and coordinate with care teams while ensuring confidentiality.

Job Summary

Transports patients, records, specimens and equipment to designated areas throughout the organization. Responds immediately to emergency patient situations; initiates emergency life-saving techniques such as CPR and crisis management. Maintains lifesaving certifications. Transfers patients to and from wheelchairs, beds and diagnostic equipment with minimal disruption to patient. May be required to use patient tracking and information system to receive, record, dispatch, respond to and complete patient transport requests. May be responsible for maintaining and managing transport related equipment and organizing equipment service requests.Works regularly with patients, providers, nursing teams on hospital units, imaging services technologists and nurses and is a critical component to ensuring patients have a positive experience with Emory Healthcare.May operate patient stretcher lifts; observes policies and procedures related to their safe operation. Secures personal property from theft or loss; maintains confidentiality of records and information. Individuals in Radiology are required to complete MRI Safety training and follow safety measures when transporting patients to and from MRI, and use MRI compatible equipment. Must complete additional training upon hiring as related to appropriate PPE use, patient moving techniques, patient equipment care training for telemetry boxes, IV pumps, oxygen tanks and more.Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education - A high school diploma or equivalent. Some areas will prefer BLS certification upon hiring. Others will provide training post hire.The ability to lift 75 pounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs)

up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
