Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Patient Transporter to safely move patients between departments at 6410 Fannin Street and 6414 Fannin Street during regular business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

The role involves assisting with patient movement using wheelchairs, stretchers, and other transport equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. A minimum of six months of related experience is preferred, with a strong focus on customer service in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience required; clinic or medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families and assist with wayfinding.
• Transport patients to and from appointments using wheelchairs, stretchers, or other devices.
• Assist with patient movement ensuring safety and comfort.
• Maintain clean and organized transport areas and report equipment issues.

Position Summary:

Responsible for greeting patients and family members, identifying providers the patient will see, transports and escorts patients to and from their mode of arrival to their appointment.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Transports visitors and patients to campus locations as needed.
• Provides assistance to patients, their families, and visitors entering the clinic with a positive and helpful attitude.
• Confirms patient identification by verbal confirmation as needed. Greets and introduces self to patients.
• Identify provider and/or Division the patient will be seen in and escorts or provides directions.
• Safely assists with patient transfer to wheelchairs or other assistive devices.
• Maintains work area with a focus on cleanliness, organization and adequate stock levels.
• Reports malfunctioning transportation equipment to appropriate service department.
• Communicates with administrative and clinical staff as needed to facilitate patient appointment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) preferred

Minimum Experience:

None required Experience in a clinic or medical office preferred

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
