  • High school diploma or GED required; four years of transportation experience with a valid license and clean MVR, or two years at lower level TRS011.
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Experience with wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport clients to and from CSB programs, treatment facilities, medical appointments, residential locations, and community activities.
  • Operate agency vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and CSB policies.
  • Assist clients with entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate and safe.
  • Maintain professional, calm, and respectful interactions with clients.
  • Follow approved transportation schedules and routes.
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections before and after trips.
  • Keep vehicles clean, safe, and orderly and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Complete transportation logs, mileage reports, trip documentation, and incident reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information according to policy and privacy laws.
  • Follow procedures for handling clients with behavioral or emotional needs and emergencies.

The Patient Transportation Driver provides safe, reliable, and respectful transportation for individuals receiving services through the Community Services Board (CSB) and behavioral health programs. The driver transports clients to and from residential programs, outpatient appointments, day programs, medical appointments, treatment facilities, community activities, and other authorized destinations.

The driver is expected to maintain a safe and professional environment while demonstrating patience, compassion, confidentiality, and respect for individuals who may have behavioral health, developmental, or other support needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Safely transport clients to and from CSB programs, treatment facilities, medical appointments, residential locations, and community activities.
  • Operate agency vehicles in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and CSB policies.
  • Assist clients with entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate and within established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, calm, and respectful manner when interacting with clients.
  • Follow approved transportation schedules and routes.
  • Conduct required vehicle safety inspections before and after trips.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Complete required transportation logs, mileage reports, trip documentation, and incident reports.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information in accordance with agency policies and applicable privacy laws.
  • Follow procedures for transporting individuals who may experience behavioral or emotional difficulties.
  • Communicate appropriately with program staff regarding transportation-related concerns.
  • Assist with emergency procedures according to agency policy and training.
  • Secure mobility devices, personal belongings, and other items as required.
  • May assist staff with client-related activities when not actively transporting clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience in transportation and valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle report; or two (2) years of experience at the lover level Ground Transp Worker 2 (TRS011) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities.
  • Completion of a professional transport training program.
  • Proficiency with wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement hardware.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist clients with entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move items consistent with agency requirements.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles in varying traffic and weather conditions.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting.
  • May be required to submit to and pass TB testing and Physical as required/needed.
  • May be required to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Operate a passenger van or agency vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, families, and staff.
  • Remain calm and professional in stressful or unpredictable situations.
  • Recognize and report changes in client behavior or safety concerns.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records.
  • Protect confidential client information.
  • Work independently while following agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, dependability, and good judgment.
