Job summary

The City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center in Irvine is seeking a Patient Transport Tech to move patients and equipment throughout the Medical Center, ensuring safety and comfort during transfers. Responsibilities include using lifts, setting up frames, transporting deceased when needed, and supporting staff and visitors.

Must have a high school diploma, one year of healthcare or service experience, and a valid CA driver’s license; BLS certification within three weeks is

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from nursing units and departments by wheelchair, gurney or ambulette.
• Use lift and safety equipment to transfer patients.
• Set up orthopedic frames, traction, trapeze following doctor's orders.
• Transport deceased to body holding area, releases deceased from body holding when requested.
• Transfer and reposition patients requiring moderate to total assistance as needed.
• Assist with family members, visitors and/or vendors as requested.
• Assist with supply requests as needed.
• Transport medical records, CDs, X-rays, patient care equipment, specimens, mail, reports, and other materials.
• Clean and disinfect patient care equipment.

Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer centre, the new clinical research hospital features 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. The Patient Transport Tech will transport patients to various areas of the Medical Center. A patient transporter is also responsible for transporting patient care equipment. Functions include positioning, transferring and transporting patients to and from various departments or locations by wheelchair, bed, gurney or ambulette. This involves lifting, turning, transferring and repositioning patients requiring moderate assistance to total assistance. Other role requirements may include transporting specimens, maintenance, and cleaning or disinfection, assisting in the management of decedent affairs, and other activities as directed. Assignments may vary between day and night shift, and participation in weekend coverage is required.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Transport patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments as requested by wheelchair, gurney, bed and ambulette.
• Use lift and safety equipment to transfer patients to and from different surfaces i.e., beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, automobile, or transportation service vehicle.
• Set up orthopedic frames, traction, trapeze following doctor's orders.
• Transport deceased to body holding area, releases deceased from body holding when requested.
• Transfer and reposition patients requiring moderate to total assistance as needed.
• Assist with family members, visitors and/or vendors as requested.
• Assist with supply requests as needed.
