Job summary

Excela Health is seeking a Patient Transport team member responsible for timely in-hospital patient transport via wheelchair or cart, including testing, therapy, and procedures. The role collaborates with charge nurses and technicians, adheres to isolation and PPE protocols, and ensures patient privacy and safety during transfers.

Responsibilities include coordinating transport with nursing staff, obtaining nurse sign-off, maintaining equipment, and handling special tasks to support patient

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
• Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment

Responsibilities

• Introduces self to patient and explains transport plan and destination.
• Obtains permission from patient’s nurse to transport patient off floor for testing/procedure
• Transfers patient to/from cart, wheelchair, or other transport vehicle according to procedure
• Maintains proper body mechanics and uses lift equipment as required
• Identifies patient prior to transport and checks identification bracelet
• Coordinates patient transport with nursing staff and ensures ticket-to-ride (TTR) is signed by RN
• Keeps transport equipment clean, reports broken equipment, and returns it to the department
• Assists in coordinating patient trips and other duties as assigned
