We distinguish ourselves through our commitment to excellence, to our patients, to our employees, and to the communities we serve.The **Transportation Driver** is responsible for transporting patients and/or equipment to and from various outside appointments, clinics, nursing facilities, hospitals, or other ancillary locations via hospital-owned vehicle. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.*This PRN position follows an "on-call" weekend schedule based on hospital needs.***Essential Functions:*** Transports patients in a safe and professional manner* Assures vehicles are clean and in working order. Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients.* Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions.* Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport. Reports vehicle concerns timely.* Assists with transferring and balancing patients. Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort.* Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements. Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport.* Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient.* May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.* Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.* Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.* Completed required trainings, as assigned.* Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.**Minimum Job Requirements***Minimum Education & Experience:** High school graduate or equivalent preferred.* Basic Life Support card required.* Six months van transport experience preferred.*Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:** Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability.* Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy.*Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** Demonstrates proficiency using the machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids appropriate for the position.* Demonstrates critical thinking skills.* Ability to maintain quality, Infection Prevention, and safety standards.* Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.* Effective organizational and time management skills.* Effective written and verbal communication skills, compassionate and understanding.**Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:*** A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time.* Both gross and precise motor functions.* Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.* Possible exposure to bodily fluids.* Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.* Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.* Ability to hear overhead pages.
