Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator to transport patients and medical staff between VA Medical Center facilities and other locations.

The role requires operating passenger vehicles, vans, and emergency vehicles up to 8+ passengers with adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The position involves driving on scheduled routes, ensuring patient safety, and performing basic vehicle maintenance while complying with VA and DOT drug and alcohol testing

Qualifications

• Experience required; show evidence of training or experience performing the duties.
• Screen-out element used in evaluation; minimal qualifications determine eligibility.
• Volunteer experience can count toward qualifying experience and will be credited.

Responsibilities

• Receive work assignments from Transportation Coordinator or Mobility Manager.
• Arrive at scheduled pickup and discharge points on time.
• Read maps and assess road/traffic conditions for safe routing.
• Enforce passenger safety and seatbelt use.
• Maintain operator records and vehicle inspection checklists.
