Job Summary

To function as a collaborative member of the healthcare team, in partnership with and under supervision of the Registered Nurse, performing direct patient care for a specific group of patients and coordinating activities related to unit processes. Promotes organizational commitment and excellence in the patient care experience.

Bonus Eligible

This position is eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus until December 31, 2021, for external candidates only.

Accountabilities

• Assist patients with needs related to personal hygiene, including bathing, hair washing, teeth brushing, and hand washing.
• Assist patients with nutrition and feeding, including helping with meals, drinking, and setting up trays.
• Assist with ambulation, including dangling, walking, using assistive devices, and fall prevention under RN supervision.
• Meet patients' elimination needs, including assistance with bathroom use, bedside commodes, bedpans, or urinals, and monitor inputs and outputs.
• Accurately measure and document vital signs, report abnormal findings to the RN.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Completion of CNA, CMA, or nursing fundamentals from an accredited organization required.

Previous CNA, CMA, or related experience preferred. One year of hospital clerical experience preferred.

Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

N/A

In Lieu of Minimum Requirements

Acceptance of current or former South Carolina CNA or CMA certification as proof of completed required training at hire is acceptable.

Other Required Skills and Experience

• Current CPR Heartsaver certification required; Basic Life Support or Heartsaver certification preferred.
• Must successfully complete Prisma Health unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire.
