Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Patient Sitter to support a nursing team in the hospital setting. Under supervision, the sitter assists with activities of daily living, helps collect vital signs, and supports in maintaining a safe environment.

The role requires initiative, teamwork, and the ability to prioritize demands; training and performance improvement activities are part of the job. The position may require varied hours and locations and would be subject to a background check and pre-employment

Qualifications

• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months.
• Minimum six (6) months previous experience in an acute care hospital, psychiatric facility, or physician's office.
• Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Collect vital signs.
• Maintain a safe environment under RN supervision.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
