Job Description

Patient Services Supervisors are responsible for specialized duties related to the receipt, interpretation, and follow-through of patient diet orders in hospital and long-term care settings. They act as a liaison between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services. They also help train, support, and lead other Patient Services Workers.

Job Responsibilities

1. Supervise Patient Services Workers during meal service. Deliver nourishments and snacks to patients as ordered by physicians or dietitians in a timely manner. Visit patients to introduce the services of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
2. Obtain food preferences or dislikes from patients and/or family members.
3. Communicate all patient food needs to the appropriate area of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
4. Ensure that nutrition diet care orders are provided to the patient by offering appropriate menu selections.
5. Maintain and adhere to all sanitation standards by following assigned cleaning schedules. Complete other sanitation tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Relief Supervisor.
6. Lead, train, and support Patient Services Workers in their roles supporting patients/residents.
7. Inventory and restock pantries, refrigerators, and freezers on assigned units.
8. Maintain temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
9. Understand therapeutic diets using established protocols and provide assistance as Supervisor if an error is observed.
10. Assist clinical staff in ensuring all patients' basic nutrition care needs are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Patient Services Supervisor required.
• Demonstrates leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Bilingual abilities are preferred but not required.

This role may have physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. May also require uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
