Position Overview

UW Medical Center-Northwest - Financial Admitting and ED Registration has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist 2 to join us in our ED Registration department.

Work Schedule
  • 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
  • Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • Day Shift
Position Highlights

The Patient Services Specialist 2 performs a variety of admitting department tasks including but not limited to: patient registration, general clerical support, customer service, and operating the switchboard. Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Greet, direct, and assist all patients and visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner.
  • Ensure patients understand admission policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate obtaining interpreters for patients as appropriate.
  • Perform admitting or pre-admitting procedures upon patient arrival, including registration, verifying, collecting, and updating demographic and financial information.
  • Determine eligibility for care via payer web portals and phone inquiries.
  • Collect co-payments or other patient liabilities.
  • Respond to patient questions and provide directions within the hospital.
  • Assist patients in accessing hospital and community services by consulting and making referrals.
Requirements
  • High School graduation or equivalent.
  • One year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
