Corewell Health is seeking a Patient Services Representative in Grand Rapids, MI. You will provide registration, concierge, and clerical services as part of a collaborative team, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality service.

The role supports various administrative tasks and requires attention to accuracy in patient records and insurance processes. Responsibilities include complex problem solving, scheduling, referrals, insurance authorizations, and EMR/EHR management.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or other related fields.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and perform complex patient/customer problem solving.
• Perform administrative functions including patient check-out, scheduling appointments, referrals, and reviewing medical records.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and assist with denials/appeals.
• Handle EMR/EHR scanning and EPIC uploading.
• Assist with training new team members.
• Act as Patient Services Representative or Associate as needed.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required safety competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary As a Patient Services Representative with Corewell Health, you'll play a vital role in delivering top-notch healthcare service to our patients. You'll work as part of a team to provide registration, concierge, and clerical services. The service you provide in the role will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for complex patient/customer problem solving, including high level discernment when registering patients in treatment rooms.
• Performs administrative functions, including, but not limited to: assists with patient check-out; schedules patient appointments, incoming/outgoing referrals, in office procedures, surgeries and tests, including medical record review of incoming referrals; maintains and modifies provider template; navigates external patient referral portals; reconciles multidepartment deposit.
• Obtains insurance authorizations and/or verifies that prior authorization has been obtained; assists with retroactive insurance denials/appeals.
• Responsible for complex EMR/EHR scanning and Right Fax faxing and uploading to EPIC.
• Assists with training new team members utilizing standard work.
• Ability to perform the role of Patient Services Representative, Associate when necessary.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
