Job summary

Avera McKennan seeks a friendly Health Center receptionist to assist patients at the Marion Road clinic. You will welcome patients, verify demographics and insurance, complete registrations, and route calls as needed.

The role also handles insurance verifications, authorizations, and consent forms, scans records, and manages scheduling to support efficient care delivery.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or 1–3 months related experience.
  • Visual acuity and effective communication abilities required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients, registers them, verifies demographics, insurance, and collects payments as needed.
  • Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations, and obtaining consent forms.
  • Scans pertinent information into the patient’s record.
  • Answers calls, messages, and faxes, routing them to appropriate departments.
  • Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office policies.
  • Coordinates nurse, physician, and patient time to expedite care.
  • Acts as public relations agent for physicians by serving patients efficiently.
  • Directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewWorks in the various reception areas throughout the Clinic and is responsible for helping the patients to access the Clinic's system for care.What you will doWelcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration which includes verifying demographics, insurance and collection of any service payments.Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations and getting consent and waiver forms signed as appropriate.Responsible for scanning all pertinent information into the patient’s record.Answers and addresses calls, messages and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed.Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.Expedites delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time. Acts as public relations agent for the physicians by serving the patients in a friendly, efficient manner.
