Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace is seeking a friendly front desk receptionist to assist patients across clinic locations. You will help patients access the clinic system, verify demographics and insurance, and collect service payments while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating between nurses and physicians, answering inquiries, and directing patients to services. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required with 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
  • Comfort with multitasking in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients, checks them in, and completes registration with demographics, insurance and payments.
  • Verifies insurance, authorizations and collects consent forms as needed.
  • Scans pertinent information into the patient record.
  • Answers calls, messages and faxes and routes to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains computer appointment scheduling per clinic policies.
  • Coordinates nurse, physician and patient time to expedite care.
  • Acts as a public relations agent for physicians by serving patients warmly.
  • Directs patients to additional services as needed.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $18.00 - $23.25

A Brief Overview

Works in the various reception areas throughout the Clinic and is responsible for helping the patients to access the Clinic's system for care.

What you will do
  • Welcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration which includes verifying demographics, insurance and collection of any service payments.
  • Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations and getting consent and waiver forms signed as appropriate.
  • Responsible for scanning all pertinent information into the patient’s record.
  • Answers and addresses calls, messages and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed.
  • Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.
  • Expedites delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time.
  • Acts as public relations agent for the physicians by serving the patients in a friendly, efficient manner.
  • Directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

High School or GED Equivalent or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
