Job summary

Avera Addiction Care Center-Aberdeen is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented Receptionist to help patients access the clinic's system for care. You will welcome patients, check them in, complete registrations, verify demographics and insurance, and collect payments.

This on‑site role supports insurance verifications, authorizations, scanning records, answering calls, and coordinating with nurses and physicians to expedite patient care.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
• Must be able to work the hours specified and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients, checks them in and completes registration including demographics and insurance.
• Verifies insurance, obtains authorizations and collects payments as appropriate.
• Scans pertinent information into the patient’s record.
• Answers calls/messages/faxes and routes them to the appropriate departments.
• Maintains computer appointment scheduling and adheres to scheduling policies.
• Coordinates with nurses, physicians, and patients to expedite care and serves as a public relations agent for the physicians.
• Directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewWorks in the various reception areas throughout the Clinic and is responsible for helping the patients to access the Clinic's system for care.What you will doWelcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration which includes verifying demographics, insurance and collection of any service payments.Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations and getting consent and waiver forms signed as appropriate.Responsible for scanning all pertinent information into the patient’s record.Answers and addresses calls, messages and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed.Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.Expedites delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time. Acts as public relations agent for the physicians by serving the patients in a friendly, efficient manner.
