The responsibilities include:
- Collecting specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
- Researching test/client information and verifying all written and electronic orders using lab systems or directories.
- Completing data entry requirements accurately, such as patient registration and test orders.
- Entering billing information and collecting payments, ensuring the security of assets and credit card data.
- Processing specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing) as required.
- Using iLabs daily for billing accuracy.
- Reporting CIR and PPE resolutions to the Director as scheduled.
- Performing clerical duties like data entry, inventory management, and answering phones.
- Adhering to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring staff compliance.
- Verifying patient demographic data and signatures post-venipuncture.
- Assisting with compiling and submitting monthly data and statistics.
- Maintaining phlebotomy logs and completing training to stay current with techniques.
- Traveling to off-site or off-shift meetings as needed.
- Participating in special projects and staying updated on company communications.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Independence and minimal supervision.
- Excellent pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy skills.
- Flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Adherence to company policies, dress code, and safety standards.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Strong customer focus, effective communication, adaptability, and knowledge of business practices.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting objects 1-15 pounds frequently; 16-25 pounds occasionally; over 41 pounds with assistance.
- Sitting or standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and extensive use of phone and PC.
- Travel required; fine dexterity, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training preferred; phlebotomy certification preferred or required in certain states.
Work Experience
- One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
