Job summary

BJC HealthCare's Neurosurgery Clinic is seeking a friendly Patient Services Representative to be the first point of contact for patients. The role involves front desk duties, appointment coordination, and assisting with insurance referrals in a dynamic clinical setting.

You will handle patient check-ins, schedule visits, educate patients on billing requirements, and coordinate with the Central Billing Office to ensure accurate charge capture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of experience preferred.
• Experience with health insurance and billing is ideal.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handles telephone calls from patients and staff; forwards calls requiring triage.
• Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
• Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
• Data entry of service charges, diagnostic codes and charges for physician and clinic services.
• Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure charges are captured and collected.

Role Purpose

The Patient Services Representative acts as the initial point of contact for front office activity and helps directs the patient flow process at the physician office. This position performs patient check-ins and appointment scheduling. This position also maintains patient financial records and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed.
