Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Primary Care located in Creve Coeur is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative. The role includes front office duties, patient check-ins, appointment scheduling, and maintaining patient financial records.

This position is 40 hours per week, day shift, with no call, no weekends, and no holidays; benefit eligible with a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of experience in a front-office or patient service role preferred.
• Experience in a medical office setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handles telephone calls from patients and staff; forwards calls requiring triage.
• Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
• Verifies health insurance information and educates patients on applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
• Performs data entry of service charges, including diagnostic codes and charges for physicians and clinics.
• Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure charges are captured and collected.

Role Purpose

The Patient Services Representative acts as the initial point of contact for front office activity and helps directs the patient flow process at the physician office. This position performs patient check-ins and appointment scheduling. This position also maintains patient financial records and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed.

• Performs data entry of service charges, to include the assignment of diagnostic codes and the entering of all physician and clinic related charges.
• Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
